Camp Knutson Tid-Bits/Facts
Hiring needs:
15 to 20 college students per season.
Housing:
Sheena Heath staff house for women & Thorson Boathouse for
the men.
Nearest town:
(6-miles) is Crosslake and 30 miles to Brainerd, 3-hours
north of the Twin Cities.
Camp Season:
Begins with Orientation on May 29th and ends on August 31st, 2008
1. What do I do?
- Be a
positive role model for children
- Praise
children, show care and love
- Encourage
children to try new things and be supportive
- Focus on
children’s abilities to do activities, rather than their
disabilities
- Be
creative
- Supervise
and teach groups of children during activities
- Plan and
implement curriculum/games
- Assist
afternoon waterfront activities (lifeguard, spotting,
handing out lifejackets, etc)
- Work with
team members
- Assist
with cleaning of buildings after campers leave
- Assist
with kitchen duties
2. Qualifications
- 1 year
college experience
- Able to work from
orientation May 27th to August 31st.

Experience with children
- Outgoing
- Flexible
and willing to adapt activities to the levels of the
children

Organized
- Willing
to take initiative in an activity or with planning new
curriculum
- Good
communication skills
- Creative
- High
enthusiasm, positive energy
- First
aid certified or CPR certified
- Life
guard (required for waterfront staff, boat drivers,
fishing guides, canoe guides)
